Why I Chose Not to Take Insurance
Traumatic brain injury and narrative trauma care require an individualized approach. By not working through insurance, you are protected in several key ways.

Absolute Privacy: Your sessions remain in strict confidentiality and are not used to inform other insurance approvals or details.

No Surprise Bills: Insurance can clawback payment months or years later, for no reason—and they do. Working privately means you know what your therapy costs up front and can budget accordingly.

You Get a Human: It's strange to say, but insurance companies have already asked to have the option to replace human therapists with AI. ​​​

You also get a local: Someone who was born and bred in the Pacific Northwest and gets the life, culture and local happenings.

No Arbitrary Limits: Healing should at your pace—one that is kind to your heart, mind and body; not dictated by an insurance company that does not know you, or your story. In fact, if trauma work is forced, it can actually cause harm. Lasting change takes time, not the arbitrary timeline of 6-10 sessions set by insurance.

No Arbitrary Termination: Your care should not be abruptly disrupted because insurance decides you should be done. When you terminate should be your decision to make with your counselor, full stop.

Individualized Care: You can receive the care that is tailored to you and your unique story, without having to request permission to use the modality that is best for you at any point in our work.​​
